The city of San Francisco recently reminded me of why she is one of my favorites after launching “SFGreasecycle” on November 20th, the nation’s first city-wide effort to collect grease from city restaurants.
The program is expected to generate about 1.5 million gallons of biodiesel and 59 restaurants have already signed up. I expect more cities to will start similar programs soon. I just hope the diesel drivers who’ve been collecting veggie oil for years don’t lose their fuel sources to the government. See the press release from San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and the SFGreasecycle Web site for more info
