Humans, along with many other species, abort pregnancies in the interest of survival. Women never make such a decision lightly. I believe that a woman’s right to choose abortion or not is a basic human right that should be protected and safely provided for.

I call for a permanent end to the death penalty. I cannot tolerate killing people collectively and denying our collective responsibility to life. No God demands it that I know of, certainly not the Christian one, certainly not Jesus. Therefore I say it is just not the way modern people should be dealing with violent crimes because we have much better ways of dealing them today.

Security: Most people today do not know where their food comes from. It is brought in by truck from all over the place, an average of 2000 miles before it gets to your table. Any disruption in the supply lines and we have no food, clothing, fuel etc.. In the uncertain world we live in today we need to take steps to insure the security of our local economy.

Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC) of Anchorage, Alaska, has been selected by DOE and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) as the winner of the 2007 Wind Cooperative of the Year award. The award recognizes AVEC for leadership, demonstrated success, and innovation in its wind power program.

Election Reform: The elections of 2000 and 2004 have shown us that even national elections are susceptible to fraud and manipulation. The latest Zogby poll indicates that 92% of Americans distrust the new electronic voting machines with fraud susceptible proprietary software all owned by known Republican activists. Fraudulent elections are one of the 14 fourteen defining characteristics of Fascism or as Mussolini called it, Corporatism.

The TOP500 list, which ranks the world’s supercomputers in terms of “teraflops,” or trillions of calculations per second, is released twice a year in June and November. That list is currently led by a supercomputer at DOE’s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) with a peak speed of more than 596 teraflops.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced on March 6 that it will accept $220.9 million in loan and grant applications under the agency’s Renewable Energy Systems and Energy Efficiency Improvements Program. Loan guarantees and grants are available to agricultural producers and rural small businesses to purchase and install renewable energy systems or to make energy efficiency improvements.

U.S. ethanol fuel production averaged 423,000 barrels per day in 2007, an increase of more than 34% over 2006 production, according to the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA). Ethanol fuel production totaled 6.48 billion gallons in 2007, far above the 4.7 billion gallons of renewable fuel required by the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Ethanol production will have to continue to increase this year, as the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 includes a new Renewable Fuel Standard that requires 8 billion gallons of renewable fuels to be blended into the country’s fuel supply in 2008.

DOE has established regulations that require most new federal buildings to achieve at least 30% greater energy efficiency than that of the prevailing building codes. The new standards, which were published in late December, are also 40% more efficient than the standards in the current Code of Federal Regulations and will help federal agencies meet Executive Order #13423, which mandated increased federal energy efficiency.
